Poolside Etiquette: How to Be a Great Neighbor This Summer

Summer has officially arrived at The Ridge Apartments, and you know what that means—it’s pool season! Our resort-style community pool is the absolute best place to soak up the sun, cool off, and unwind after a long day.
Because the pool is one of our favorite shared spaces, we want to make sure it stays relaxing, safe, and fun for everyone. To help keep the vibes immaculate all summer long, we’ve put together a quick refresher on poolside etiquette.
Here is how you can be a five-star neighbor while catching some rays this season:

1. The Golden Rule of Loungers: No "Saving" Chairs
We all love a prime spot by the water, but reserving a lounge chair with a towel at 9:00 AM when you don't plan on swimming until 2:00 PM is a major poolside faux pas. If you are heading back to your apartment for lunch or taking a long break, please take your belongings with you so someone else can enjoy the space.
2. Keep the Beats at a Neighborly Volume
Music and summer go hand-in-hand, but your neighbors might be trying to read a book, chat, or just enjoy the sound of the water. If you want to listen to your favorite playlist or podcast, please keep the volume low on your speakers, or better yet, pop in some earbuds.

3. Glass Belongs in Your Kitchen, Not the Pool
This is our most important safety rule! Accidents happen, but broken glass on a concrete deck or worse, in the pool itself is incredibly dangerous and requires us to drain the entire pool to clean it. Stick to plastic cups, aluminum cans, or reusable water bottles for all your poolside refreshments.
4. Be Mindful of the Splash Zone
Cannonballs and pool games are a blast, but just keep an eye on your surroundings. Try to keep the heavy splashing to the center of the pool, away from residents who are lounging on the edge, trying to keep their hair dry, their books legible, or their phones safe.

5. Clean Up After Your Crew
Think of the pool deck as an extension of your own living room. Before you head back inside, take a quick look around your lounge area. Double-check that you’ve gathered all your trash, snack wrappers, and personal toys, and toss them into the provided recycling and waste bins.
6. Know the Guest Policy
We love seeing our residents share our beautiful community with friends and family! Just be sure to review our community guidelines regarding the maximum number of guests allowed per apartment at the pool. Remember, you must stay with your guests while they are enjoying the amenities.

By keeping these simple tips in mind, we can ensure that the pool deck at The Ridge remains a peaceful, welcoming oasis for our entire community. Thank you for being such amazing neighbors. We’ll see you by the water!
